Automatically Expiring a Manufacturer's Warranty
During the COVID-19 pandemic, companies suspended sales of their floor stock, which resulted in the expiration of some product manufacturer warranties. As companies plan to resume selling this inventory, it is imperative that the manufacturer’s warranty field accurately reflects the expired status.
EPASS includes an automatic process by which the manufacturer warranty (Mfr Wty) is set to 0 for exclusive reserve serials when reserved under specific conditions. This ensures that the warranty information reflects the current status, and prompts sales teams to offer extended warranty options when applicable.
This option is located in the Brand table.
The manufacturer's warranty in the Invoice Detail is automatically set to ‘0’ when this setting is enabled and these two conditions are met:
- The serial is Exclusive Reserved.
- The number of months between the received date and the current date is greater than the No of Months field.
A floor model of a dishwasher is being sold on clearance. The floor model was received two years ago, and the manufacturer's warranty period of 12 months has expired. The salesperson creates an invoice and Exclusive Reserves the serial through the QOH field. This triggers the automatic warranty expiration. The Mfr Wty field on the Model line is set to '0' and the salesperson is prompted to offer the customer an extended warranty.
